The Lateral Partner and Counsel Recruiting Specialist plays a key role in driving global partner and counsel recruiting efforts. This position collaborates with the Lateral Partner & Counsel Recruiting Manager, the Lateral Partner Subcommittee, the Chief of Staff, and occasionally members of the Firm’s Executive Committee and Practice Group Leaders, to develop strategies for lateral hiring. The Specialist must demonstrate independence, sound judgment, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions.

Hybrid Role – 3 days in office required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with trusted recruiters and legal search firms, and identify new recruitment opportunities.
  • Develop and execute plans to meet lateral partner and counsel hiring objectives.
  • Review, circulate, and follow up on recruiter submissions (via ViRecruit), ensuring proper tracking and documentation.
  • Conduct initial candidate evaluations, create exclusion lists, and manage candidate pipelines.
  • Represent the recruiting team at meetings with recruiters as needed.
  • Follow up with recruiters for feedback, candidate availability, and the submission of candidate LPQs.
  • Conduct market research, working with the business intelligence team, to build a proactive candidate pipeline supporting lateral hiring priorities.
  • Maintain and recommend improvements for the lateral hiring process.
  • Partner with the Legal HR team and Lateral Partner & Counsel Recruiting Manager to streamline the counsel hiring process.
  • Draft bi-weekly updates for specific practice groups or office locations.
  • Track and manage data across platforms like internal spreadsheets, iManage, and ViRecruit.
  • Collaborate with firm members globally to support the lateral hiring process.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of recruiting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services setting.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel; knowledge of viRecruit and Leopard Solutions a plus.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at multi-tasking and prioritizing projects.
  • Strong time management and the ability to manage time-sensitive tasks.
  • Flexibility to meet operational needs and varying work hours.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact well with both internal and external clients.
  • Strong work ethic, confidentiality, and professionalism.
