Job Title: Lead – HR Compliance

Location: Suffolk County, NY (relocation available)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $120K – $135K

Job Summary:

The Lead HR Compliance role is responsible for overseeing and managing HR compliance across multiple entities in North America. This position ensures adherence to a wide array of legal and regulatory requirements, including compliance related to cross-border travel, working with employee representative bodies, and establishing new hiring entities. The role involves close collaboration with key business stakeholders, HR teams, and external partners to ensure the effective delivery of the HR compliance agenda, supporting the organization’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Compliance Management

  • Oversee governance and control of HR compliance across the organization.
  • Conduct compliance reviews and provide guidance for optimizing HR policies and practices.
  • Assist in developing a framework for HR compliance, risk mitigation, and ongoing operational monitoring.
  • Stay current on labor regulations and evaluate potential risks, providing recommendations to management.
  • Ensure HR Business Partners (HRBPs) are equipped to address compliance matters and adhere to best practices.
  • Monitor federal, state, and local laws impacting the company and employees.

Employee Records Management

  • Manage and uphold employee records in accordance with legal and company-specific requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy and proper maintenance of records for all employees within the organization.

Immigration Matters

  • Oversee company immigration matters, collaborating with outside counsel for case management.
  • Ensure timely filings, advise employees and management on immigration-related issues, and maintain accurate records.

Global Mobility

  • Partner with Global Mobility teams to manage immigration processes for expatriates.
  • Serve as a point of contact for expatriates, guiding them through the expatriation process.
  • Update and communicate any changes to expatriate policies, processes, or laws to stakeholders.
  • Track and report expatriate cases in collaboration with internal and external teams.

Employee Relations Management

  • Lead employee relations investigations in partnership with HR, Legal, and Compliance teams.
  • Address complaints regarding harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, and policy violations.
  • Analyze ER trends and recommend actions or strategies for improvement.
  • Implement digital tools and data analytics to improve employee relations processes and outcomes.
  • Lead special projects aimed at improving workforce engagement and promoting company values.

Support for Internal/External Audits

  • Assist with internal and external audits as needed, preparing compliance-related documentation.
  • Collaborate with HRBPs to prepare Affirmative Action Plans, EEO reports, and other required state compliance reports.
  • Ensure audit data is compiled and documented according to requirements.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources or a related field.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of HR Generalist and HR Compliance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HR compliance, including immigration, employee relations, and labor laws.
  • Experience with OFCCP audits and preparing Affirmative Action Plans, EEO reports, and adverse impact analysis.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, analyze HR metrics, and develop actionable plans.
  • Knowledge of employment law, compensation, benefits, employee relations, organizational design, and training.
  • Excellent professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and maintaining integrity.
