The primary focus of this role will be to proactively support the Head of People Development to deliver Trainees, Associates, Partners and Business Teams professionals with opportunities to develop and maintain the right mix of skills to drive our business forward. To provide a structured, modular learning and development (L&D) programme across the business.
Key responsibilities
- Delivering professional skills and leadership development programmes to all career groups and levels of seniority, including the firm’s most senior leaders.
- Conduct training needs analysis and, where appropriate, develop or co-develop relevant new learning and development programmes and initiatives.
- Responsibility for developing, maintaining and monitoring appropriate eLearning materials.
- Add to, refresh and update learning as necessary to ensure continuous improvement and to reflect changing priorities and in response to feedback.
- Liaise with HR and line/business managers, advising on L&D interventions and bespoke learning needs for specific groups of employees to address individual/group performance or career development needs.
- Develop appropriate processes for obtaining thorough and timely feedback, for example by encouraging and reminding supervisors to provide continuous feedback on performance using appropriate tools.
- Play a key role in delivering the firm’s induction programmes.
- Maintain key documents, frameworks, materials and intranet sites as required.
- Source and advise others on external training providers to meet identified needs, timescales and budgets.
- Monitor external training provision to ensure that a quality product is delivered to specification, give feedback and maintain relationships.
- Maintain visibility throughout the firm to promote the value of learning & development and develop strong working relationships across all departments.
- Keep up to date with relevant L&D trends and initiatives in the wider HR and legal communities.
- Provide supervision and coaching to People Development Coordinator for specific tasks and areas of work.
- Assist the Head of People Development in supervising and coaching the People Development Coordinator in relation to specific tasks and areas of work.
- Assist our early careers professionals in developing appropriate learning frameworks and materials.
Person Specification
Experience of working within a Professional Services environment is essential. The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent by experience, with a CIPD or equivalent L&D professional qualification. They will be confident in the delivery of internal management and personal skills development programmes at all levels, through various channels including face to face, virtually and through e-learning. With a good understanding of all aspects of L&D training needs analysis, programme design, delivery and evaluation, associated systems and software and external training provider relationship management.
Academic Achievements/Specialist Skills
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent by experience), and ideally CIPD qualified.
- Experience of using e-learning creation tools, ideally Articulate to create engaging training.
- Accreditation in at least one psychometric, ideally Insight’s Discovery or similar.
Abilities and desired qualities
- At least four years’ experience of working at L&D Advisor level ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
- First and foremost, our successful candidate must have a passion for helping others learn and develop.
- The successful candidate must love delivering in-person development programmes, with a compelling and positive presentation style.
- They should have experience in the development of different forms of learning, including the creation and management of engaging e-learning.
- They should have a proven ability to develop effective working relationships with internal clients, with strong interpersonal skills to build confidence and trust with all parts of the firm’s populations.
- They should be proactive, confident, tenacious, resilient and flexible.
- Flexibility to work additional hours where resource requirements dictate and travel to our other offices when required.
- They should have; strong service orientation, attention to detail, ability to manage a number of projects running concurrently, first class written and verbal communication skills, a commercial approach.
